Very simple layout: a sage green background, a retro-ish swirling pattern, and the occasional photo. However, it’s easy on the eyes and you don’t actually miss the photos because the text is so darned funny.

Fast download time and the clean layout make reading fuss free, but the links aren’t well organized (pity, because many of them are fascinating, if you’re patient enough to go through them on by one). And the archives could be better too, especially since this writer’s addictive posts make you want to go back to all the entries you’ve missed.

If we could give it a higher score, we would. Amazing, amazing, amazing writing. Sometimes hysterically funny, sometimes poignant and bittersweet, always describing everything so well. And apparently many people agree, judging from her very active fan base with people leaving messages after the entries.

Love it, love it, love it. We just do. Maybe it’s the incredible writing (this blogger should publish a book!), maybe it’s that rare mix of sharp wit and gentle insight. So the web design could be better, but it’s a small flaw that the content more than makes up for. Bookmark this!
