Wits End Here

Political satire–like a souffle, is very difficult to pull off. You need cutting insight, sharp wit, perfect delivery, and the ability to make it look effortless. And this blogger (T. M. Lindsay) manages to do just that. Entries range from Letterman-esque Top 10 lists to spoofs to haiku, many of them pointed at President George W. Bush. Ok, and one entry on the Da Vinci Code, but U.S. International Relations Policy is a bigger mystery to us all.

Visual Aesthetics – 8

The white background and choice of fonts does give a very news magazine feel to the site, but it can be a little too stark for entries that don?t have any visuals. We do like the selection of the photos, however, especially with the witty captions.

User Friendliness – 7

For some reason, profile and the archives appear at the bottom right, right after a very loooong scroll down, instead of being easily accessible at the sides…
Reading Enjoyment – 9

A good read – intelligent, well written, thought provoking, but best of all, it makes you laugh. Considering the state of affairs, it’s a merciful break.

User Info – 7

The blog assumes you’re familiar with current affairs, so you won’t get the joke if you’re not already in the know. No links to news sites.

Overall Experience – 9

One of the sharpest minds (and tongues!) on the Internet. A very good way to release whatever frustrations that may have accumulated after reading the day’s headlines. Sure, a lot of people gripe about the government – but he does it so well.
