The Garden Lady

The Garden Lady

If you are interested in gardening this is the blog for you. Lilac put up the The Garden Lady in hopes of eventually providing one of the most educational, interesting, and entertaining places in the internet for gardeners.

Visual Aesthetics – 6

Aside from the nice looking header the blog looks to stark and white to me. The font is also a bit too large and though it makes for easy reading it does nothing for the look of the blog. The Garden Lady definitely needs a bit of sprucing up. The author would do well to insert some images if the pretty plants and flowers she likes to talk about.

User Friendliness – 7

The very large fonts are incredibly friendly so that even my grandma would probably be able to read the blog without glasses. The layout is pretty basic and makes for easy navigation except that the Archives, About Page, and Ask the Garden Lady tabs are just to up high and quite easy to miss. It would have been better if it was put under the header to make it a bit more visible.

Reading Enjoyment – 7

With a lot of question and answer posts as well as factual posts The Garden Lady can’t be considered as one of the fine literary nooks in the internet. However, the advice are very clear and easy to follow.

Useful Info – 10

Lots and lots of information here for horticulturists. If you’re still new in the field you’ll find the Ask the Garden Lady feature very useful since Lilac really does answer questions. You won’t have to wait for her to post a topic related to your needs but you can get an answer to it right away. The Garden Lady has succeeded in making the blog a very educational one.

Overall Experience – 7

Although I didn’t really enjoy The Garden Lady that it could be because of the fact that I have no great love for gardening in general. However, The Garden Lady does have its place in the internet and is indeed a very good gardening resource. I also admire the author’s attitude as she is indeed very helpful. I hope she tries to make her blog look as pretty as her gardens are.
