The Other Veda

The blog of a girl named Vedashree by her parents but called Veda by everyone else. Here you can find her rants, opinions, film reviews and short stories.

Visual Aesthetics – 7

Simple very neat template used. It borders on the plain but thank God for the pink fonts since they do add color to the gray, black, and white. A little more color through the use of COLORED images to relieve the monotony of the end less text will be much welcome.

User Friendliness – 7

The good part is that it loads fast and navigation is pretty easy. The bad part is that the fonts are too small to make for easy reading and since the posts are usually long it can get pretty dizzying. The author also needs to add a Previous Posts link at the bottom of the page and start using categories as well.

Reading Enjoyment – 9

Great content. Good writer. Witty and smart. I recommend that you take the author’s advice and visit the “For Starters” entries as they are some of her best works. The short stories are also great. The only problem is that she likes to write really long entries, and while they are good ones, a few short posts will be much appreciated. Since the blog isn’t themed those who are not very interested in personal stuff might also not enjoy some of her entries.

User Info – 8

Good film reviews to be found here. A pity the author doesn’t use categories so you can find them much easier. Lots of information about Veda’s points of view and stuff you can learn about India and its culture by reading between the lines or by simply reading what Veda has to say.

Overall Experience – 8

A blog with good content but can improve in it’s look and user friendliness. Content is good but if you can’t find what you are looking for then what’s the use of the content? By the way this girl writes you would NEVER guess that English is a foreign language to her.
