If you’re a woman of A Certain Age, you’re sure to like this blog. It’s sometimes touching, often intensely personal, and very interesting. Hell On Heels is a mother and grandmother, but pretty young for all that, and though this is a personal blog, it’s also one that does a great job of drawing you in.
Visual Aesthetics – 8
It’s pretty plain vanilla, with a great pic of a high heel at the top that makes me think of cigarettes crushed out; a few pictures inline with blogs, and that’s about it. Easy to read, but nothing incredible.
User Friendliness – 8
I had no problems with it whatsoever, except that the blogs themselves would be a little more easy to read if broken into chunks instead of posted as thirty and forty line paragraphs.
Reading Enjoyment – 9
A real breath of fresh air; Hell On Heels is opinionated and female and angry and joyful and struggling with life, just like every woman of her age. And she’s very open, talking about her problems, holding back nothing when she’s angry, sad, or confused.
User Info – 8
Surprisingly, even though she had hardly any links to good sites and the whole blog is her internal world, there is some excellent information here; she shows that there’s life after drugs, that you can deal with family members who have mental illness, and that you can maintain a sane life in the midst of chaos.
Overall Experience – 8
As a personal blog, this is a delight. A bit of work on the visuals, and it will merit an award.
