Rants of a Tired Freelancer
Rants of a Tired Freelancer is the blog of Vadim, who is a “true professional localizer, not “merely” a translator”. The blog covers a lot of ground relating to freelance translation and localization and offers other freelancers tips and tricks to make their lives easier.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
Rants of a Tired Freelancer has a very simple design, which could have worked very well. A little tweaking to ensure that images load properly will improve things a lot. Also, it could help to add more images to break up long chunks of text now and then.

User Friendliness – 7
Rants of a Tired Freelancer needs some work with regard to helping users discover more of the blog’s content. Perhaps sections such as the archives, tags, and categories could be added to the feeds section. Another suggestion: provide snippets of the posts in the home page so that users will not have to scroll so much.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
If you are a freelancer, you will have fun reading Rants of a Tired Freelancer. The title may seem negative, but the blog also shows you just how fulfilling and enjoyable the profession is.

Useful Info – 10
Rants of a Tired Freelancer scores great in this regard. Vadim knows what he is talking about and shows you exactly that. He gives useful information even when he rants!

Overall Experience – 8
I think that Rants of a Tired Freelancer should be in your reading list if you are a freelance translator, or if you are planning on becoming one. It will definitely be of big help!

  1. Hi Noemi

Thank you for great review. I must add a couple of things however.
    1. My name is Vadim, not Vladim=)
Then about “who considers himself as a true professional localizer, not “merely” a translator.” I make no such claims, that would be boasting, you’re quoting a testimonial by a customer of mine.
    Thanks again for kind review.

Thanks again for kind review and apologies for double-post.

  3. Rants are my favorite, and I can totally relate to being a tired freelancer. My only comment on this review is that I’d like to see more obvious social follow links…posting a link to the twitter profile as well as one of the ubiquitous “follow me on Twitter” icons (or perhaps a little tweety bird).

  4. Hi Vadim,

Apologies for the mistake in your name. I have corrected that. And, nah, I don’t think you’re boasting. Testimonial is better, yes?
