Rev Trev
Rev Trev is the blog of Pastor Trevor Lund. Also a writer, Rev Trev shares insights and advice in his blog, with the aim of helping people get motivated.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
Rev Trev has a very clean look, and the header is really optimal for the site’s content. The posts also have supplementary images that add to the visual experience. The home page can be tweaked some more, though. For example, additional visual elements can be utilized instead of simply having the download/sign up box in the upper left side.

User Friendliness – 6
In my opinion, this is the weakest point of Rev Trev. There are three posts that can be found at the bottom of the home page, but there seems to be no way to acces other posts from this page. (You may see other posts if you click on one of the posts in home page – other links are shown then.) Sections such as previous posts, archives, popular posts, tags, and so on can be added for easier navigation. More so, once you go to the home page, a box will pop up asking you to subscribe/download a free book. While this may be a marketing strategy, it can be quite intrusive, especially since the same box can be seen on the home page already.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Rev Trev has an engaging writing style and you will find yourself wanting to read more of what he wants to share. He presents Biblical passages and ideas in really interesting and relevant ways.

Useful Info – 10
If inspiration and motivation is what you need, then Rev Trev is an excellent blog to visit. Each post targets specific topics/situations and you will definitely walk away with something that can be applied to your life.

Overall Experience - 7
Content-wise, Rev Trev is excellent. It just needs a little work in terms of the visual experience and user friendliness. Other than that, this blog gets a thumbs up!

Fountains Of Truth
Fountains Of Truth, the blog, is a supplement to the web site of the same name. The blog title gives you an idea of what the focus of the blog is – seeking truth and spirituality in this world.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
I really like the clean look of Fountains Of Truth. The background is a pure white, with large readable black font. There are relevant photos included in each post, breaking up the “whiteness” of the pages. This is a good example of simplicity = beauty.

User Friendliness – 8
I didn’t have any problems with load times as I browsed Fountains Of Truth. The pages loaded up quite fast, in fact. My only concern is the fact that I had to scroll down so many times to get to the end of the page. More so, there seemed to be an endless column of Amazon ads on the right. The archives are way down at the bottom. This could be fixed easily to make the blog more user friendly.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Fountains Of Truth is a very positive blog with well-written posts. The posts are easy to read and really make sense – I could use this blog in the morning as I try to put a more positive spin on my day!

Useful Info – 10
There are gems to be found in the pages of Fountains Of Truth. The insights that the blogger offers will be very useful to most people.

Overall Experience - 9
Aside from the issue on user friendliness, Fountains Of Truth is a very good blog. I recommend it to everyone who is sick of negativity.

Decompose
Decompose is the blog of Mike Duran, an ordained minister, a writer, and a record holder for the most number of consecutive 3-point shots made in his front yard. His blog is a creative outlet for himself and a venue for others to discover insights about life in general. He describes it best as his “attempt to discern, interpret, challenge, poke fun at, and ultimately enjoy the world we live in.”

Visual Aesthetics – 10
Decompose scores strongly on this point as its individual visual elements come together to create an excellent experience for the reader. I am very much impressed with the header, which is a collage of various people and items that the blog talks about. I think that it really captures the essence of the blog. The posts themselves also contain enough relevant images to break up the long blocks of text.

User Friendliness – 10
Navigating Decompose is a breeze. Links to relevant sections are easily found right below the header. The right column also contains additional links that the reader will find useful – archives, top posts, recent posts, categories, blog roll, and the like. More so, the pages loaded up very quickly.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I have never been one to enjoy heavy philosophical discussion but I found myself reading through the posts in Decompose. Mike Duran has a way with words that makes complicated ideas easy enough to understand and digest. The topics are very relevant to the modern day Christian who faces various issues in his daily life.

Useful Info – 10
Sometimes I think that written works of philosophy and religion have little practical value. Decompose proves me wrong. This blog is full of philosophical and religious discussion but there is a lot of practical information that one can apply in his daily life.

Overall Experience - 10
Decompose is an excellent blog if you want to stimulate your brain. I have to say that it is not light reading but you will not regret frequenting it as you walk away knowing something more.

Modern March
Modern March is the blog of Brandon Smith, the Director of Student Ministries at Christ Wesleyan Church in Bedford, Texas. In this blog, he shares insights about life and his faith. The name Modern March means “means that my aim is to reach and impact Christians and those searching for Christ (March) with my thoughts on Christianity and faith in the 21st century (Modern).”

Visual Aesthetics – 8
I like the color scheme of Modern March – shades of gray, black, and red. Though it may seem dark, I think that it gives off an aura that there is intensity in its content. The header is also visually stimulating and appropriate to the blog’s theme. However, I feel that the posts themselves could use more photos – same thing for the blog as a whole.

User Friendliness – 10
Modern March is very easy to navigate as it is fairly new and there is not much content as to be overwhelming. All the relevant links are also easy to find. As for the loading times, there is no problem at all.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I really enjoyed reading the posts in Modern March. The way that Brandon writes is very engaging. More so, he comes of as very real and sincere, at the same time, he does not sound too preachy. There is a lot of thought-provoking insights to be read in this blog.

Useful Info – 10
If you are looking for spiritual insights, then this blog scores perfectly in the usefulness category. The posts are not overwhelmingly theoretical – although there is a lot of theoretical bases to be found in the posts. You can actually find some ideas that you can apply in your life.

Overall Experience - 9
Modern March is a spiritual blog for the modern person. It is something that I would recommend to those who are seeking for fulfillment in the spiritual sense.

Walk for the Lord
“A changing person” is how Adam Clark see himself. In his blog, Walk for the Lord, he shares his spiritual experiences and how these affect his life.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
The first thing that came to mind was “It’s so dark!” I am talking about the color scheme which is white text on a black – very black – background. This does not make for a very pretty sight. The entries also tend to be quite long, without many photos to break them up. Walk for the Lord is quite well organized, though, making the overall look neat and nice to look at.

User Friendliness – 8
The pages load up quickly and the blog layout makes for very easy navigation. However, the text is a bit hard to read – I guess the contrast of the black and white is not quite right.

Reading Enjoyment – 9
Walk for the Lord is all about Adam’s life and he relates his faith to most everything. Many of the insights are very interesting, especially if you are into spirituality. However, for those who are not, the blog may not be very interesting.

Useful Info – 8
There is not much byway of practical information in the usual sense. However, the spiritual insights found in Walk for the Lord can very well be applied to your own life.

Overall Experience - 8
Walk for the Lord can use some tweaking in most aspects but is generally a good blog to visit from time to time.

The Blog of Dysfunction

Though the blogger claims to be dysfunctional this blog reflects a person of sound mind and values. This is a blog of a pretty average student with a strong faith yet very realistic and practical thoughts.

Visual Aesthetics – 6

The plain white background and big fonts make for a clean organized look, which is good. However the blog looks a bit too plain. A more frequent use of images to accompany some entries might do the trick or the author could opt to add a bit more color in his blog.

User Friendliness – 10

The blog is very user friendly with a fast loading time, very readable text, and highly organized and easy to find sections/pages/features. I especially like the Blog Notices Section since it is very useful for visitors, whether first timers or not, as it give the latest improvements/changes in the blog, points out interesting posts, and gives other useful advice.

Reading Enjoyment – 9

This blog contains a lot of substantial posts. The author likes to delve on a lot of issues especially of the moral and religious/theological kind. Though the author is a Christian and so has clear cut biased opinions regarding moral issues you will find that the author doesn’t really get preachy nor self-righteous. Makes for a good though provoking yet still sometimes funny read. The only problem is that the entries tend to get a bit too long so that you might be discouraged to read an entry just by looking at it.

User Info – 7

A lot of opinions and thoughts expressed here but nothing much about facts or plain information. The opinions are however proabably useful to its readers since this is obviously a religious blog or the presonal blog of a religious person at least. You’ll find interesting stuff here from everyday living to parenting.

Overall Experience - 8

I enjoyed reading the posts though I did have a problem with length. People who get offended by strong opinions regarding faith and morals should stay away..or maybe read this blog to see another opnion.

Sharing My Insights

Ronald Young started his blog to write down his insights and get feedback. It’s a philosopher’s blog on life, love, religion, existence and the list goes on. He hopes to find himself and truth, in whatever way and in whatever form.

Visual Aesthetics – 5

It’s template-based with only one visual that goes with every post- that of the Earth and Moon in space. He’s a philosopher- so deal with it.

User Friendliness – 4

There are four links and no navigation to talk of. That’s it and nothing more.

Reading Enjoyment – 4

I’m bothered by the titles that always start with Enlightenment. You think you’re bound to read something really insightful, so you read some more, and some more. There’s none! He might think that he’s onto something but I seriously doubt it. It makes you think for about 5 seconds and then out you go.

Useful Info – 5

Philosophy students might find something here, but then again, maybe not. It’s a mixture of Deepak and Oprah.

Overall Experience – 5

Ron’s blog came into being to document his thoughts, feelings, to elicit connectivity and feedback. So far, it’s not going so well. There’s only one person who bothers to comment, and there’s nothing there either. A frustrating experience. One would love a blog like this to be a winner, but the zip just isn’t there.

In the Outer

An online Chicken Soup for the Soul, discussing ethics, spirituality, theology, faith, church, meditations and life journey. In his words, an ordinary bloke standing in the outer – reflecting, rethinking, retelling: life, faith, business, and culture.

Visual Aesthetics – 9

Magazine-chic layout. Somewhat cluttered but good placement of sections saves the page. Nothing overboard. No tacky images linking other sites. Good mix of colors give off the feeling of understated elegance.

User Friendliness – 9

Okay load-up. No complicated sub-links and a no-nonsense ads section makes this site a keeper.

Reading Enjoyment – 6

Caters to a very select group. Though it has several global current event topics, this blog remains to be dominantly faith-centered though not necessarily conservative.

User Info – 6

For those sharing the author’s interest, this site is a mine of gold. Included are recommended readings and interesting discussions. For the recommended readings section, a short background information is provided for books such as Blink, Foreign Bodies, Grace and Law, Linked and several other interesting reads.

Overall Experience – 7

Has a baseball pitch feel to it, keeping up with its “in the outer” title. Faith and religion isn’t discussed in a hush-hush, spiritual manner but in a normal tone that leaves you with an uneasy feeling. Uneasy but moved.
