There is something about the elements not coming together perfectly, though. It might be arrangement of the ads in the right sidebar, as well as the combination of the fonts used. Little tweaks will solve this easily.

One thing that I like about The Poodle (and Dog) Blog is the fact that it provides you with a lot of links that you might find useful. Links within the posts point you to further information, and links in the sidebar point you to relevant posts within the blog as well as external sites. I would suggest placing the recent and popular posts higher up, though.

What Would A Dog Do looks very clean. Black text on a white background – you can’t get any simpler than that. I also love the header and the way the other elements come together visually. The only suggestion I have is to lessen the space between the links in the right column. A little too much white space there!

What Would A Dog Do is quite easy to look at and to navigate. I also didn’t have any problems with load time. What I would do, however, is to add tags or labels to make it easier to find posts. More so, I would move the archives up higher in the page. It is a bit tedious to keep scrolling down too much.

The Water Bowl uses a two-column template, making the most out of the space. There are interesting and relevant photos scattered throughout the posts, which add to the viewing experience. Certain words are also highlighted, colored, and scattered throughout the posts, giving an added element to the visuals.

With regard to page load times and navigation according to timeline, The Water Bowl does excellently. I would have loved for Adam to use more links within his posts. For example, when writing about the Georgia Aquarium, he could have linked to the official web site for more information.

Who will not have a good time reading about dogs and fish? I also like how there are themed days. There are tune-riffic Tuesdays and Foto Fridays. Excellent way to put focus in the blog.

The overall color theme of Teachings Of The Horse is teal green and I think it matches the idea of the blog. Horses and meadows, get it? There are also a lot of relevant photos about the horses and other topics in the blog entries. The blog is very neat and pleasing to look at.

I had no problems with the loading times of the blog entries that I browsed through, despite the amount of pictures in the blog. One thing that I found missing is the section for categories. With this, it would be much easier for visitors – especially the new ones – to find the entries that are most relevant and most interesting to them. Also, though there is a section for the archives, I think that it could be placed in a more accessible location – perhaps higher up the right hand column?

Reading Enjoyment – 9
I have always loved looking at horses. I have never owned one, nor have I many encounters with them in real life but Teachings Of The Horse made me feel as if I were interacting with them. There were many things that I didn’t know about as I was reading the blog but I still had a good time. Just a note, some of the posts are VERY long, though, so for the sake of those who have short attention spans, perhaps the text could be chopped up a bit?

Manes N Tails is very well-organized and the pages load up easily. It is quite hard to scroll down through long blocks of text, though. Another thing is that the font could be a little bigger, especially since the posts are long – it is a bit hard on the eyes.

I really like the header and the fact that there are lots of elements adding to the visual effects of The Days Of Johann. There are a lot of pictures and videos within the entries themselves. The light orange text on the white background takes away from the overall effect, however. More so, the predominance of the ads on the right column could be toned down a bit.

I understand the orange is the official color of the ASPCA. However, the shade of orange used for some of the text in the blog kind of hurts my eyes. Maybe a different shade will do?

Another thing that could make it a bit easier for the readers would be to relocate the archives links to a more accessible position.

Who wouldn’t enjoy reading posts by a dog? Well, of course I know that it’s Johann’s “mum” who writes the posts but they are quite entertaining, really. Some of them, though, I couldn’t really relate to. Maybe because I don’t currently own a dog?

Shades of blue in a blog is always a good thing. Photos – especially of cute labradoodles – add to Tinkerdoodles visual appeal. However, the layout of the text and photos could use some work. Perhaps spacing out of photos in between blocks of text would help. The spacing between paragraphs is a bit inconsistent and could be “repaired” as well.

Obviously, the blog is all about animals – the behavior and antics of pets, in particular. More than that, you will find touching stories about all sorts of animals as written by Angel Grotton and Ksena Midnight.

The pictures of animals are definitely heartwarming – nothing more needs to be said about that. However, the blog does look a bit cluttered with all the links and ads and the way they have been laid out. The header could use some work as well.

This is truly and undoubtedly the world of horses. With everything on horses from photographs, news, art, equine health, videos and history this blog’s dedication to gathering information about horses is quite remarkable. Strolling along the Bridlepath you’ll surely encounter a horse and a horse lover or two.

One look and I knew what it was all bout. No need to look at the title. It’s about horses but really saying that this blog has plenty of photos of horses doesn’t do it justice. You need to visit the blog to be able to appreciate the images yourself. The blog template itself is very plain but the header and the images posted make it very very appealing.

User Friendliness – 8

The blog loads a bit slower than other due to the many images and videos but still has an acceptable loading time. The entries are easy to read since they are mostly images with a few lines or a short paragraph or two. Navigation is pretty straightforward. There are lots of links on the sidebar though it doesn’t affect navigation that much since the popular posts, categories and archives are given priority over the blogroll.

Reading Enjoyment – 8

Very few entries to “read” here since the author’s style is usually to simply place an image, describe it in a concise manner to give context, and then link to the original article. This actually works for me since you get to get only the meat here and skip the boring. If you are into horses and want a quick fix this is the blog to visit. However due to the style you won’t really get to enjoy posts in the literary sense.

User info overload. Horse lovers will definitely find this site to be very useful and interesting. Did you know that there are jousting tournaments held today? There are lots of things you will definitely learn from this blog.

Great blog for horse lovers (and “likers”?). This would fall under animal lover but since there is no such category lets leave it at Pet Obsessed. A blog that lead me to “wasted” time as I kept on looking at back entries for more interesting horse facts.
