Higher Pound: Lessons on Recovery Learned From a Pack of Dogs
Higher Pound is the blog of Jennifer, a woman recovering from alcohol addiction. Anyone who is in a similar situation will be able to relate to her blog posts and draw inspiration from her experiences.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
Higher Pound gives a very good first visual impression. It is free of clutter and yet has enough visual elements to keep your attention. The header is simple, with an unmistakable background image. The posts are a nice blend of text and images, with the occasional photo montage.

User Friendliness – 9
Higher Pound is a relatively new blog, so it really is no issue navigating the content. With the recent posts, archives, and categories easily accessible, however, even when the content expands, users will still find this a friendly blog. One thing: there seems to be an error in the “Top List” section.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Whether you are recovering from an addiction or not, you will find some enjoyment reading the posts in Higher Pound. This is a well-written blog, with a mixture of prose and poetry, and as I said, photo collections.

Useful Info – 10
Higher Pound overflows with insights, inspiration, and practical nuggets of wisdom for people who need some direction in their lives. You do not need to be recovering from alcohol addiction to find useful information in this blog, but if you are, then all the more this blog will be important to you!

Overall Experience - 9
Higher Pound is very highly recommended for anyone who is seeking for inspiration and direction. The blog is geared towards those who are in recovery, or those who know someone in the same situation, but the content can be expanded to other situations as well.

Trading Sparks is the blog of Dino Alaeddin, who owns a web design and online marketing agency. In this blog, he focuses more on his experience with astrology and how it has helped him achieve self-realization.

Visual Aesthetics – 9
Trading Sparks is quite beautiful in its simplicity. It does not astound you with flair, but the simple beauty of the design and the images just might take your breath away. The only thing that can be improved is the grey space on the right – it does give you breathing space, but it seems a tad much.

User Friendliness – 9
At first glance, I had difficulty finding how to navigate Trading Sparks. The obvious (+) sign at the top left escaped me initially. Once you get that, you’ll be okay. For better navigation, the categories section could be filled up.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I am not really into astrology, but I won’t deny that I do read up on this topic once in a while. For those with an open mind and for those who regularly read about the topic, I think that you will enjoy the posts in Trading Sparks.

Useful Info – 10
Everyone needs to achieve self-realization, and this is what Trading Sparks can help you with. If that is not useful information, then I don’t know what is!

Overall Experience – 9
Have you been trying all sorts of techniques to get inspired and change for the better? Maybe there are some things you haven’t taken a look at. Why not visit Trading Sparks and see if you can gain nuggets of insights that can help?

Loving My Happy Life is a venue where you can celebrate the life that you are living. We all face issues and difficulties, but if we look hard enough, there is a lot to love in the life that we live!

Visual Aesthetics – 8
Loving My Happy Life exudes positivity and cheer simply with the blog name, but it could use some tweaking when it comes to the looks. It has a very simple look, which is actually great, but there isn’t much to find at this point. I am positive, though, that with a little time, there will be more to see, both in terms of content and visuals.

User Friendliness – 8
The relevant links can easily be found on the home page of Loving My Happy Life. However, since there isn’t much content yet, I did find myself a little lost as to where to look.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
One thing is for sure – even with only a little bit to read, Loving My Happy Life already provides enjoyment to the readers. I recommend contributing your own stories so that this site will become even more enjoyable!

Useful Info – 8
Insights and inspiration are what you will find in this blog. For more content that you may find useful, click on the Tumblr link. For now, Loving My Happy Life needs a bit more.

Overall Experience - 8
Loving My Happy Life has so much potential. The idea itself is a success already. If you want to share happiness and receive some as well, why not participate?

The Senior Share Project is an initiative of best friends Eileen and Heidi, who created the blog as a tribute to the wonderful elders in their lives.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
Senior Share Project has a very clean look that definitely does not get old. The header features the project’s logo, and is very appropriate for the theme of the blog. More so, each blog post is accompanied by at least one relevant image. All in all, the blog is pleasing to the eyes.

User Friendliness – 8
Senior Share Project is very easy to read, both in terms of writing and the size of the fonts used. Seniors themselves will not have an issue reading through the blog. The site is also very easy to use, with instructions on how to submit content. One thing that would make things easier for readers is a better way to navigate the blog via labels or categories.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying reading the posts in the blog. Senior Share Project is comprised of a hodgepodge of topics, and there is something for everyone. Sometimes, I even felt like a kid again, sitting on the floor, listening intently to my grandma’s stories!

Useful Info – 10
Don’t expect “how-tos” from the blog. Instead, find tons of insights and heartwarming stories that you will find useful at one point or another in your life.

Overall Experience - 9
Rev Trev
Rev Trev is the blog of Pastor Trevor Lund. Also a writer, Rev Trev shares insights and advice in his blog, with the aim of helping people get motivated.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
Rev Trev has a very clean look, and the header is really optimal for the site’s content. The posts also have supplementary images that add to the visual experience. The home page can be tweaked some more, though. For example, additional visual elements can be utilized instead of simply having the download/sign up box in the upper left side.

User Friendliness – 6
In my opinion, this is the weakest point of Rev Trev. There are three posts that can be found at the bottom of the home page, but there seems to be no way to acces other posts from this page. (You may see other posts if you click on one of the posts in home page – other links are shown then.) Sections such as previous posts, archives, popular posts, tags, and so on can be added for easier navigation. More so, once you go to the home page, a box will pop up asking you to subscribe/download a free book. While this may be a marketing strategy, it can be quite intrusive, especially since the same box can be seen on the home page already.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Rev Trev has an engaging writing style and you will find yourself wanting to read more of what he wants to share. He presents Biblical passages and ideas in really interesting and relevant ways.

Useful Info – 10
If inspiration and motivation is what you need, then Rev Trev is an excellent blog to visit. Each post targets specific topics/situations and you will definitely walk away with something that can be applied to your life.

Overall Experience - 7
Content-wise, Rev Trev is excellent. It just needs a little work in terms of the visual experience and user friendliness. Other than that, this blog gets a thumbs up!

In Our Hearts We Won Them All is a blog “for and about underdogs.” Who doesn’t love underdogs? This blog is bound to plant that seed of hope in your heart and nurture it as well.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
In Our Hearts We Won Them All is all about finding beauty in the simple and plain things in life, and this principle seems to have been applied to the blog design as well. Everything is plain and simple, yet pleasing to the eyes. I would suggest a little more sprucing up in visual terms, though. A nice header and more utilization of the empty white space in the right.

User Friendliness – 9
The pages of In Our Hearts We Won Them All load up very quickly, and you can easily find old posts in the archives section. A label or tag cloud would be very helpful, though, as the blog covers a variety of topics.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I really enjoyed reading the posts in In Our Hearts We Won Them All. Indeed, the goal of Trevor Scott Barton is a worthy one, and reading his writing is a good way to spend your time.

Useful Info – 10
People who are feeling low due to whatever reason should pay a visit to In Our Hearts We Won Them All. The posts are meant to uplift the human spirit, and that they do!

Overall Experience - 9
In Our Hearts We Won Them All is meant for underdogs, but even those who are enjoying success in their lives can learn a thing or two from this blog. It definitely highlights the strength of the human spirit!

The Daily Mind promises to bring more meaning into your life, with the help of Eastern life principles. Written and managed by The Daily Minder, this blog is sure to inject fresh strength and energy into your mundane everyday life.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
I just love the header of The Daily Mind! A caricature of The Daily Minder is shown in the forefront and all sorts of other people are placed in the fuzzy background.

The overall look of the blog is very neat and clean – in perfect harmony with the intrinsic message that it wants to impart. There isn’t any clutter, and the reader is free to enjoy the whole visual experience.

User Friendliness – 10
The Daily Mind is very easy to navigate. The relevant links are easily found at the top of the page and in the right columns. I also didn’t have any problems with load time. More than this, the sleek looks of the blog made it very easy to read the posts.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I only meant to read several posts quickly for evaluation purposes, but I ended up spending a whole lot more time than I thought I would. The Daily Minder writes simply, making it easy and enjoyable for readers, but at the same time the concepts are so weighty that you will not be able to help yourself from reading more.

Useful Info – 10
This is definitely the strongest point of The Daily Mind. Some of the concepts presented in the posts may seem like commonplace to some people, but once you start reading, you will find fresh insights – it’s like having a eureka! moment over and over again.

Wanna Smile
Wanna Smile is a blog full of images that have one goal: to make the readers smile.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
Wanna Smile has a light blue theme with splashes of green thrown in – a perfect combination in my mind. The color theme is very easy on the eyes and the pictures in each post just make your viewing experience tops.

User Friendliness – 10
In spite of the number of photos in the blog, I did not have any problems with load times. Navigation is an ease – you can find individual posts either by category or through the archives. More so, majority of the posts have links to the original locations of the pictures.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
While there isn’t much text to be found in this blog, the photos speak for themselves. The few accompanying text is also apt, adding to the reading enjoyment.

Useful Info – 10
Technically, you will not find practical information in the posts of Wanna Smile. However, if what you need is a lift to your spirits, then this blog is the most useful that you can find!

Overall Experience - 10
I love Wanna Smile! While there are countless other blogs which have the same purpose, the blogger has good taste and seems to find the most fun, cutest, and funniest photos there are online. Keep up the good work!

Insights is the blog of Tanmay Vora, a “a software quality & management professional – passionate explorer of management/leadership subjects – chooses to look at brighter side of life – loves writing.” As the name of the blog implies, she shares a lot of insights that can be used in the professional world.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
Insights makes use of a two-column template, which suits the content very well. Everything is neat and in place, making the overall look of the blog pleasing to the eyes. It does look a little plain, however. It can use some sprucing up with some visual aids.

User Friendliness – 9
This is one of the most organized blogs that I have seen. The formatting is excellent and the navigation easy. There are also no problems with load times. The only suggestion I have is to relocate the archives above the outbound links.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Insights offers its readers a very enjoyable time. Though the posts tend to be of a serious nature, they are well-written. She also has a propensity for quotes that add to the reading enjoyment.

Useful Info – 10
Definitely one of the blog’s strongest points. The blog’s content is very much in sync with its name and description. Anyone who is interested in management and life improvement in general would certainly pick up a lot of information from this blog.

Overall Experience - 9
Insights has a very promising name and the blog itself delivers on that promise. Want to gain new insights? Bookmark this blog!

You Are Living
You Are Living is an inspirational blog which covers a wide variety of topics about life. It is a place to visit for those who are looking for the positive things in life.

Visual Aesthetics – 8
The color scheme of You Are Living is very simply – blue and black on white. This scheme makes the whole look of the blog easy on the eyes. I think that the blog could benefit from more visual aids such as relevant photos, though, as it looks a little too plain.

User Friendliness – 9
I like the fact that there are numerous relevant links within the posts. As a reader, it was not difficult to look for additional information that was noted in the posts. I would change the arrangement of the elements of the right column, though. I would also add more relevant links such as the archives and tags.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
One of the strongest points of You Are Living is that the posts are well written and made to be read easily. The content is very relevant but not written in such a way that they come across as too philosophical.

Useful Info – 10
The content of You Are Living is very useful in terms of helping an individual reach within himself and find the motivation to think in a more positive light. The posts have very specific topics and the insights are presented in an organized manner, making the reader glean useful information very easily.

Overall Experience - 9
You Are Living is one of the best inspirational blogs that I have come across. The ideas are presented clearly and you cannot help but feel more uplifted after reading through the blog. It is very highly recommended.
