Though the shades of brown are pleasant enough to look at, I feel that there could be more, especially since the focus of the blog are video games and movies – these subjects are highly visual. Personal Opinionator scores well in this area as the blogger has made it very easy to get around in his blog. The links to the labels and archives are quite visible on the upper portion of the left column. One suggestion – make it even easier for your readers by including links to relevant sites. I think that it would be good to find more information on the movies and video games that are being reviewed.

There is a lot of information about the gaming world in the pages of Console Updates. However, I found some tags to be misplaced. For example, GTA IV was labeled as PSP – this is going to be released for PS3 and Xbox360.

This blog needs a makeover. The horizontal black bar above the apple green bar above of some sort of very pale and endless green background just doesn’t work! The color scheme might work but definitely not in this kind of layout. The endless text makes the otherwise good entries look unappetizing since one look makes you feel like you’ll never finish reading any of the posts. It might be a good idea to simply show snippets of really long posts in the homepage instead of the entire thing.

User Friendliness – 8

Navigation in this blog is pretty straightforward. Text links are (very) visibly differentiated from ordinary text eliminating the need for guesswork on the reader’s part. However the text is not that readable and actually makes me feel a little dizzy. A change in one of the following – font, font size, or spacing – might solve the problem.

Reading Enjoyment – 9

As a non-gamer got pretty lost in this blog since I didn’t know anything about more than half of the games and didn’t understand ANY of the gaming specs (if that’s even what it’s called). The part I did understand was quite entertaining though. The author writes in first person mode and simply shares his opinions and experiences about the different games he reviews. In my opinion genuine gamers will definitely relate to and enjoy reading this blog.

This is the place where you go to for genuine game reviews and news on the latest games that’s coming out and or just came out.

The blog to visit if you are a gamer. The only thing that puzzles me with this blog is that since a lot of gamers are very particular when it comes to graphics I would expect the author to put a bit more effort in making his otherwise cool site look good.

He touches upon many different aspects of poker, from personal poker experiences to basic lessons explained in layman?s terms for how to win at low-limit hold?em games to ideas for how to make money from poker websites.

At the top of the page there is a photo of an orange neon sign of the word ?GAMBLING,? which sets a Las Vegas-type mood, suggestive of entertainment and energy. Although all the letters of the neon sign are not visible in the picture, it only takes a second to decipher what is being spelt out. The name of the site is cleverly positioned to obstruct part of the sign, which not only makes the name of the site more eye-catching, but also, it ever so slightly challenges the viewer to think about what word is being spelt out by the sign, and like a suggestive piece of clothing, it compels the viewer to look more closely. The posts are on white backgrounds, surrounded by a gray margin. There are spots of color here and there, mostly orange and gray. Overall each page has a professional, clean, neat, uncluttered look, but perhaps could be made more visually stimulating by the inclusion of more highly colorful pictures/photos.

The large font and white background makes it easy to read the posts. Navigation is simple. Two weaknesses: 1. The live search function is not yet functioning. 2. When you click on a category you might incorrectly think (as I initially did) that you haven?t been taken to a new page, as there are no clear-cut category headings on each page, and a number of the categories have overlapping posts.

The posts of Poker Moments are clearly and coherently written, and not always written by the same individual. Sometimes you get a woman?s perspective, which is always refreshing when so many of the poker blogs are written by males. The posts generally offer useful tidbits of information that will help a beginning poker player better understand various poker related issues. They are not rambling pieces. Nor are they filled with boring bad beat stories.
