Never Too Late Guitar is the blog of Jeff Singer, who is a beginner at learning the guitar. He created the blog in an effort to share what he knows and what he is learning. In his words, “just because I’m a beginner doesn’t mean I don’t have something to say that can be useful to other beginners, and on the rare occasion, an expert.”

Visual Aesthetics – 10
The visuals of Never Too Late Guitar are excellent! From the unique header to the brown-beige color theme, the blog is simply pleasing to look at. There is no shortage of images within the blog posts themselves. Great work!

User Friendliness – 10

Useful Info – 10
There is a LOT – I repeat, a LOT – that you can pick up in this blog. True, Jeff may consider himself a beginner, but he is also right in saying that he has a lot to share with others.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
I just love the header of The Daily Mind! A caricature of The Daily Minder is shown in the forefront and all sorts of other people are placed in the fuzzy background.

The overall look of the blog is very neat and clean – in perfect harmony with the intrinsic message that it wants to impart. There isn’t any clutter, and the reader is free to enjoy the whole visual experience.

User Friendliness – 10
The Daily Mind is very easy to navigate. The relevant links are easily found at the top of the page and in the right columns. I also didn’t have any problems with load time. More than this, the sleek looks of the blog made it very easy to read the posts.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I only meant to read several posts quickly for evaluation purposes, but I ended up spending a whole lot more time than I thought I would. The Daily Minder writes simply, making it easy and enjoyable for readers, but at the same time the concepts are so weighty that you will not be able to help yourself from reading more.

Useful Info – 10
This is definitely the strongest point of The Daily Mind. Some of the concepts presented in the posts may seem like commonplace to some people, but once you start reading, you will find fresh insights – it’s like having a eureka! moment over and over again.

Off To Europe
Have you ever wished that you could pack your bags and traipse around Europe? With all the travel costs going down, you can go Off To Europe more easily than you probably thought! That’s also the name of one of the most informative blogs about one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Visual Aesthetics – 9
Off To Europe has a very clean look. It has a plain white background that sets off the text very clearly. The simplicity is actually very pleasing to the eyes. There are also photos scattered in the blog posts, adding some splashes of color. The only suggestion that I have is for more photos to be included. A custom header would also be nice.

User Friendliness – 9
Off To Europe is very easy to use – all the necessary links and information can be found on the main page. There is a section for tags, categories, and recent posts, making it easy for the user to find whatever he is looking for. It would be good to find more links within the posts themselves for additional information from outside sources.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
I really like reading the posts in Off To Europe as they are well written and very simple. This makes the posts easy to read and finding information is a piece of cake!

Useful Info – 10
Off To Europe is packed with all sorts of information about traveling to European countries and cities. There are destination guides, attraction and sightseeing guides, and a lot more. I particularly like the fact that they come up with posts that are geared towards the budget traveler as well.

Overall Experience - 9

We have a silver winner here! Off To Europe is very informative and looks at various angles. Anyone who is interested in visiting Europe one of these days should bookmark this blog.

Guitar Noize
Guitar Noize is the blog of Jonathan Bloomer, who is obviously crazy about guitars; and his blog is indeed making some noise for it is part of the Top 40 Guitar Blogs list. Jonathan came up with that list, but to be fair, he used stats from Google Pagerank, Alexa Rank and Technorati Rank, and Twitter. So let’s see what’s in store for us?

Visual Aesthetics – 10
I am not fond of using “z” for “s” but that aside, the visuals of Guitar Noize are great! The main background is black with a spattering of white blobs. The text background is plain white, making it easy to read. And the header-logo is obviously custom made. The posts themselves are also visually appealing, with relevant images included.

User Friendliness – 10
I have to say that Guitar Noize is very very easy to navigate. The clean look of the blog makes it a simple matter to find what you’re looking for. The posts also contain the necessary information for the reader to get where they want to go – from links to instructions, Jonathan provides these. More so, load times are not an issue.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
Easy reading! Any guitar enthusiast will love going through the posts in Guitar Noize as they are quite simple to understand, and the passion of the blogger just shines through. Mind you, this is not your run-of-the-mill teach-yourself-how-to-play-like-Eric-Clapton resource. You get to watch videos, read Jonathan’s take on all things guitar, and so much more.

Useful Info – 10
Very useful indeed! While I said up there that it is not a step by step tutorial on how to play the guitar, you will pick up tricks in this blog as well. And of course, there is a lot of trivia, which, while not “practical,” is quite important information to guitar lovers.

Nothing more needs to be said. Guitar Noize is a Gold Bloggy Award Winner!

Avant Gaudy
Avant Gaudy is one of the most unique fashion blogs that I have seen in a while. The name alone should give you an inkling of what is in store for you in this blog.

Visual Aesthetics – 10
Avant Gaudy makes use of a very simple template. Again, this is a perfect example of how simplicity can be of great beauty. Photos – lots of them – make up for the simplicity of the template. For someone who is not really into fashion, I was really taken with the visuals in this blog.

User Friendliness – 10
It is very easy to navigate this blog. There are relevant links within the posts. The archives and the categories are also very accessible in the right column. I did have some issues with page loading times, but I think that it was more due to my Internet connection, which has been acting up all day.

Reading Enjoyment – 10
As I said, I am not that into fashion but I did find myself reading on and on. More than the photos that caught my eyes, I did find tidbits of information in the text that were (surprisingly for me) enjoyable!

Useful Info – 10
People who do not think much of mainstream fashion should take a look at Avant Gaudy. There are tons of tips and ideas with regard to dressing and accessorizing yourself up!

There is no doubt about it, Avant Gaudy deserves a perfect score and to be a Gold Bloggy Award Winner! Fashionable people, fashionista wannabes, or people like me who do not know much about this world – Avant Gaudy just might hold what you need and want.

Home Is Where The Cars Parked
Home Is Where The Cars Parked is the personal blog of a woman currently experiencing financial difficulty – something the rest of the world can relate to especially in these days of financial turmoil. Though living in a car and disabled she faces each day with an attitude that we can all admire.

Visual Aesthetics – 9
The simple white template was made interesting with the use of a beautiful header and really nice pictures. The only problem is the right sidebar doesn’t render correctly (it’s shows up at the very bottom of the blog) in Internet Explorer messing up the otherwise pleasant look of the blog.

User Friendliness – 10
Easy to navigate with plenty of options for different search behavior (categories, tags, tag cloud, etc.). Social bookmarking is also made easy and clutter free thanks to the “I love social bookmarking” button at the end of each post.

Reading Enjoyment – 9
Just from reading the introductory email Deb sent I could already tell that her blog would make for a good read. I wasn’t disappointed. A personal blog chronicling daily activities but done in a way that allows even a stranger in.

Useful Info – 9
Nothing useful in terms of hard facts but still useful because the contents are mostly of every day issues (from unemployment and immigration to blog woes) that ordinary folks can relate to.

Overall Experience - 9
Relevant, honest, critical yet hopeful. It shows us that circumstance is not an excuse for not being able to go on with life. This blog is a must read.
