Spina Bifida Moms

I’m just telling my one story of being a disabled mom raising a healthy, active toddler“, says this blogger. But her story has touched many lives. As she talks about tantrums in the supermarket and bedtime battles, or her dreams of sharing the beauty of Paris with her daughter, she also shares a little bit of her spirit. She is determined to live a happy, beautiful life, without the handicap of self-pity or regret.

Visual Aesthetics – 8

It’s a very simple blog, with pictures of herself and her family, and links neatly lined at a column. While it won’t win any design awards, it’s organized, functional and pleasing to the eye.

User Friendliness – 8

The site is easy to download, and the links are pretty well organized. But for some reason, the information is shoved to the bottom of the page, after the very last entry. You have to actively look for it.

Reading Enjoyment – 9

It’s sweet to read about her daily mommy rituals, and the little anecdotes that make all parents smile and think- “I know exactly what you mean“. You wouldn’t guess she had spina bifida, which is both a strength and a weakness. On the one hand, she makes her point that she’s just like any mom who just happens to have a handicap. However, she has a unique and wonderful story to tell, and can reach out to so many people by telling it. Without bringing that into all her entries, this blog may melt into the thousands of mommy blogs on the Internet.

User Info – 10

The site has excellent links on spina bifida, dealing with handicaps, and parenting. A good place for those who are either struggling with physical disabilities or are raising a child with special needs.

Overall Experience – 9

You can’t read this blog without stopping to think: who is really leading a handicapped life? Is it this woman, who has so much joie de vivre, and an amazing capacity to embrace each day with enthusiasm and joy, or is it those who have lost the most important faculty of all: wonder?
